To join a Google Calendar shared with you and enable notifications via desktop nudge and email, follow these steps:
Step 1: Accept the Calendar Invite
1. If someone shared a Google Calendar with you, you should receive an invitation email.
2. Open the email and click on Add this calendar.
3. The calendar will now appear under Other calendars in your Google Calendar.
Step 2: Enable Notifications for the Calendar
1. Go to [Google Calendar](https://calendar.google.com/).
2. Find the calendar you just added on the left under Other calendars.
3. Hover over the calendar name, click on the three vertical dots (⋮), and select Settings.
Step 3: Set Up Notifications
In the calendar settings, scroll to the Event notifications and All-day event notifications sections:
1. Desktop Nudge Notifications:
- Under Event notifications, click Add notification.
- Choose Notification as the type.
- Set the timing (e.g., 10 minutes before) for a desktop notification nudge.
- Repeat if you’d like multiple notifications.
2. Email Notifications:
- Under Event notifications, click Add notification.
- Choose Email as the type.
- Set the timing (e.g., 1 day before).
- You can set multiple email notifications if you wish.
3. Daily Agenda Email (Optional):
- Scroll down to Other notifications.
- Next to Daily agenda, select Email to receive an agenda email with all events for the day.
Step 4: Save and Confirm Notifications
Your settings will automatically save, and you will start receiving notifications for events on this calendar according to the preferences you set.
Now you’re set to receive both nudge (desktop) and email notifications for events on this Google Calendar!
